Who can use the Job Related Fee Waiver?
Why use the Job Related Fee Waiver?
  • Take courses to enhance performance in current position
  • Acquire additional skills needed to perform newly-assigned responsibilities
  • Gain additional education without seeking a degree
  • Take prerequisite courses for a degree program to which you intend to apply
  • 24 job-related units may be transferred toward an undergraduate program
  • 9 job-related units may be transferred toward a graduate program
How do I use the benefit?
  • For faculty, staff, and management, please submit the Employee Fee Waiver Application [DocuSign] 
  • Courses will be reviewed to determine their applicability to your job and participants will receive an email from the Bursar’s office to begin registration
Does it matter when I take the course(s)?
  • At your Appropriate Administrator’s discretion, State time may be used to take one class per semester (exception: Unit 8)
  • Your Appropriate Administrator may adjust your work hours to accommodate class attendance
  • Your Appropriate Administrator may require that classes are taken in non-work hours
Other Information
  • Employees using the Job-Related Fee Waiver to take graduate courses are subject to Taxation
  • Normal academic standards shall be maintained. This may include a review of the grades received for the courses taken. Employees who were academically disqualified or on academic probation may be denied participation in the Fee Waiver Program until they reinstate.  
  • Job-related courses are not intended for degree-seeking students. Employee who are currently enrolled in degree seeking programs cannot use the job related fee waiver and will be required to switch to career development fee waiver.
