Orientation

The Spartan Experience for Transfers

All Spring 2025 admitted transfer students must attend one Spartan Experience for Transfers (SET) session, and participate for the entire duration of the program.

Fall 2025 SET Orientation Days:

  • Friday, June 27, 2025
  • Tuesday, July 8, 2025
  • Tuesday, July 15, 2025
  • Tuesday, July 22, 2025
  • Friday, August 1, 2025

Please note that not all sessions may not be available to you on your Next Steps portal. The Orientation sessions available to each student will be based upon when their major will be offering academic advising. Additionally, sessions fill up on a first come, first serve basis so this may also affect general orientation session availability.

How to View your SET Orientation Session Date?

You can check the SET orientation date you registered for in your Next Steps portal. To ensure a fair registration process for all incoming SJSU students, we don't permit changes to orientation sessions after the intent to enroll deadline. Exceptions can be made for verified emergencies with proper documentation. If you encounter an emergency and cannot attend SET Orientation, please contact us at transfer-orientation@sjsu.edu

What do I do Before Attending SET Orientation?

  • Complete Spartan Link, our online pre-orientation modules (incoming Fall students will have access around the beginning of May 2025).
  • Review your confirmation letter sent to your MySJSU Messages (access through your one.SJSU.edu portal) one (1) week prior to your SET session.

For more information please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page or contact us at transfer-orientation@sjsu.edu.

Students attending a Spartan Experience for Transfers (SET) who need disability-related accommodations should contact the Accessible Education Center (AEC) at aec-info@sjsu.edu as soon as possible or at least two weeks prior to attending your orientation session.
