Activity 3: 3-Day Summer Faculty Workshop

Activity 3, David Parent runs and assists the 3-day summer faculty workshop. This workshop is meant for faculty members in Engineering and STEM from SJSU, Gavilan College, and San Jose City College.

The 3-day faculty workshop will focus on:

• Students’ backgrounds, as well as their K-12 and life experiences, have contributed to their:
  • Physiological
  • Psychological
  • Social Development
• How to help foster their success in the University's Academic System.
• How a pedagogical approach will focus on active learning activities in developing an understanding of and an application of:
  • Communication
  • Strategy
  • Interaction
• Learning about the statistic and data of students in STEM.

This activity will give faculty the skills to better engage students in their courses, addressing Pillar 3: Student Engagement of SJSU’s Four Pillars of Student Success plan.
