About Katie Lassiter:
Katie Lassiter is currently a Criminalist at the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Laboratory working as a Latent Print Examiner and a Crime Scene Investigator. Her forensic career started in 2001 after receiving an Associates of Science degree in Administration of Justice/Forensic Technology from Grossmont College in San Diego. After, she was lucky enough to grab an internship position at San Diego County Sheriff's Office Crime Laboratory. She was hired on at the San Mateo County Forensic Laboratory in 2004 and has since obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She has also obtained certifications as a Latent Print Examiner and as a Crime Scene Investigator through the International Association for Identification. As a Criminalist, she has responded out to over 350 major crimes scenes in the county of San Mateo where she performs various forensic examinations such as firearms trajectory, blood documentation and collection, latent print collection, photography, diagramming, and 3D scanning. When she is not out in the field, she spends most of her time in the latent print unit where she processes items of evidence for latent impressions, compares latent impressions to known individuals, and searches latent impressions in the AFIS database. She also trains and supervises the interns in the lab's yearlong internship program in the latent print unit.
