Space Inventory
San José State University uses MetaBIM to maintain information about the assignment, use, function, and occupancy of all rooms in buildings on all university properties (Main Campus, South Campus, Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, etc.). This data is important to many departments for daily operations and for planning, analysis and reporting.
Facilities Development and Operations (FD&O) administers the system and relies on department space coordinators, facility managers and department chairs to ensure that the information in MetaBIM is accurate. It is important for safety reasons that floor plans and room numbers are current. The accuracy of the room use coding is critically-important to SJSU. SJSU employees or Persons of Interest with a legitimate use for and need of MetaBIM will have an account created for them by FD&O. To request MetaBIM access, contact FD&O.
MetaBIM is not used for facility support requests. If you need to contact FD&O to place a work order or report any facilities issue, call (408) 924-1990 during regular business hours, call UPD at (408) 924-2222 during evenings and weekends, or submit your non-urgent service request online.

In 2024, SJSU made the strategic decision to terminate two off-campus leases for Finance and Business Services and Research Foundation. That decision was motivated by operational cost savings, and informed by the changing space needs that result from hybrid work.
