In the Wild: A Collaborative Playground for Sharing Patterns
Alexis Muller
This thesis explores how product designers interact with design libraries and proposes ways to make that experience more intuitive and collaborative. Many designers struggle to locate, understand, and apply components within large-scale systems, which can slow down workflows and reduce design consistency. Through research with professional designers, this project identifies key pain points in navigating and documenting component use across teams and tools.
In the Wild introduces Wildscape, a collaborative Figma playground where designers can share real-world examples of how components are used in products. By visualizing component behaviors and documenting best practices, the platform turns static design libraries into living ecosystems of shared knowledge. The project encourages a culture of open collaboration, making it easier for designers to learn from each other and evolve design systems together.
