Evening Lyft Ride Program

SJSU offers 3 evening Lyft ride passes every month for students traveling to or from campus within a designated service area. This program helps students get home safely after evening classes or any campus activities. To access the service, students must register using their SJSU email and follow the steps outlined on the Evening Lyft Ride Program page.

Bicycle Sharing

Lyft BayWheels

Lyft BayWheels is a service that allows hassle free short-term bicycle rentals in the downtown area. Lyft BayWheels can also be found in other participating cities. Rentals include single trips, or monthly and annual memberships. Students and employees can currently receive a free 1 year membership that provides up to 45 minute pedal bike rides for free, and a discount on e-bike rides and pedal bike rides longer than 45 minutes.

Free Annual Membership Instructions:
1. Login to your account at baywheels.com using the
phone number associated with your Lyft account, or create a new account. Make sure the account uses your SJSU email address.
2. Under "Membership", click "View details". Then, click "Enter promo code".
3. Enter the promo code "SJSU20BIKE25" and click "Submit".
4. Follow the remaining steps on the website to complete enrollment.

Bike Share for All

Lyft BayWheels also has a Bike Share for All program for individuals who qualify for CalFresh, SFMTA Lifeline Pass, or PG&E CARE utility discount. Eligible members pay $5 for an annual membership for the first year, then $5/month ($60 a year). See the instructions below to obtain a discounted membership.

  1. Visit the Baywheels Discounted Membership page
  2. Select "Get Started" under Bikeshare for All
  3. Follow the remaining steps to complete enrollment

Discounted Regional Transit Passes 

Altamont Corridor Express (ACE)

ACE is a rail service from the Central Valley (Stockton, Lathrop/Manteca, Tracy) and the East Bay (Livermore, Pleasanton, Fremont) to San Jose Diridon Train Station. ACE has partnered with Associated Students (AS) to offer 50% off 20-ride and monthly train passes for students and employees. Highway 17 Express

The Highway 17 Express provides bus service between downtown Santa Cruz (Metro Center), Scotts Valley, and San Jose. Students and employees can purchase discounted 15-ride and 31-day passes subsidized by SJSU Parking Services. Visit the Highway 17 Express page for details.
