Sustainable Finances

Ensure long-term financial sustainability, effectiveness and accountability. 

Metrics

  • Grow enrollment revenue year over year.
  • Increase general fund, undesignated campus wide operating reserves year over year until the system required goal of 5% of operating expenses or recommended goal of 3-6 months of general fund operating expenses is met.
  • Increase non-general fund operating reserves year over year.

Campus Infrastructure

Improve the campus infrastructure to enhance the SJSU’s ability to deliver on its teaching, learning and research mission.

Metrics

  • Upgrade at least 200 classrooms by 2030 with base-level classroom instructional technology.
  • Reduce the amount of deferred maintenance annually by $2M.
  • Upgrade or replace end-of-life Information Technology (IT) infrastructure by 2030: (1) Cabling 10 buildings; (2) 2,000 Wi-Fi access points; (3) 300 network switches; (4) 250 on premise workloads moved to managed cloud services or software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers.

Layered Security

Implement a layered and multifaceted cybersecurity and physical security strategy to safeguard our campus community.

Metrics

  • Maintain a score of 3.25 of 4.00 for the HEISC (Higher Education Information Security Council) risk score.
  • Maintain a 75% reduction in malicious messages missed by Gmail’s security filters using modern AI-based email security filtering.
  • By 2030 achieve a phishing simulation click-rate of 15% or lower for all SJSU staff, faculty and students.
  • Implement a unified cloud-based VMS and replace 1,050 security cameras by 2030.
