Spanish Language Counseling Proficiency

This proficiency is for MSW students demonstrating advanced levels of Spanish language proficiency and social work practice skills. Students demonstrating this proficiency will receive a written confirmation that they have completed the Spanish Language Proficiency Program from the San Jose State University School of Social Work. In order to obtain this recognition, students must successfully complete ScWk 224, an elective course that uses cultural, linguistic competencies, and social work skills in the delivery of services to Latino client systems. Please note that this class is not offered every semester. For more information, please contact us at socialwork@sjsu.edu and put "Spanish Proficiency Question" in the subject line.
