MAS 170: Hollywood Images of Latinas & Latinos

Description
The course examines images of Chicana/os in Hollywood. In particular the course examines the socio-political relations between Chicanas/os and the dominant society by exploring the use of stereotyped images of Chicanas/os in film. Prerequisite: ENGL 1A and ENGL 1B or instructor consent. The course readings are available through the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library e-book and article databases. We will not purchase any books, but you may need to rent some films for analysis and viewing outside of class. Some films are available on reserve at the IRC.
