History
The Center for Innovation in Applied Education Policy builds upon a 3-year CSU Office of the Chancellor, (one-time allocation of $3 million dollars) initiative to eliminate equity gaps among all levels of education, from kindergarten to college in California. As part of the CSU Center to Close the Opportunity Gap (CCOG) initiative, SJSU’s Center for Collaborative Research Excellence in Education (CCREE) was selected as the Northern California Hub by the Chancellor’s Office and Long Beach State. The CCOG-CCREE grant served as the foundation for a demonstration and proof of concept for this proposal for a SJSU-led Campus Center.
The establishment of the IAEP Center on June 1, 2023 realizes the dream of an independent CSU-based at San Jose State that will provide stakeholders and providers in California’s TK-12 systems of support.
By continuing to work with educators, school districts, local educational agencies, education reform partners, and higher education faculty researchers, we are positioned to deliver innovative tools, accessible strategies, and practitioner-centered research-based practices to those who serve vulnerable “at-promise” students in California and across the nation.
As part of our continued mission, we hold forth the goal of serving those students at the margins—Students in Foster Care, Youth Experiencing Homelessness, and High Need/Highly Mobile Youth—who historically have not yet reached their academic potential.
