Exploratory Student Success Center

Undeclared Student Advising at the Exploratory SSC!

The Exploratory Student Success Center serves undeclared undergraduate students. Our center plays a critical role in providing exploratory/undeclared students with general education academic advising and assisting them with navigating the change of major process. We work closely with other Student Success Centers and the Career Center to connect our students with resources to help them transition into their desired major.

Academic Advising Appointments

To meet with your assigned exploratory Student Academic Success Specialist (SASS), schedule an appointment on Spartan Connect. Appointments are 30 minute sessions. If you cannot make an appointment on Spartan Connect, email your assigned exploratory SASS directly or the Exploratory Student Success Center at exploratory-advising@sjsu.edu for assistance.

Assigned Exploratory Advisor

Your assigned Student Academic Success Specialist (SASS) is based on your class standing and the first letter, or first few letters, of your last name.

Advising caseloads are in the process of being updated and will be released soon. Please connect with your previous advisor in the meantime.

If you are uncertain about who your previous advisor is or can't make an appointment with any advisor through Spartan Connect, please email exploratory-advising@sjsu.edu for assistance.

Drop-In Hours

Our Fall semester drop-ins have ended and will resume in Spring 2025!

Dates: January 21 - January 31, 2025
Days: Monday through Thursday
Times: 9:00 AM - 11:30 PM and 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Once you complete this self-assessment, schedule an appointment with a Career Center Counselor to discuss your results.

We moved locations! The Exploratory Student Sucess Center has reopened in-person as a part of the Undergraduate Advising Hub at the Student Services Center (1st floor). The Student Services Center is located inside the North Parking Garage on the corner of S. 10th and E. San Fernando Street.
