The earlier you find the support services you need to succeed in your classes the better. Most introductory classes have associated workshops that will help you get extra practice and help in the material. 

CoSAC Peer Tutoring

If you are having trouble in your classes take advantage of FREE tutoring and peer advising (DH 213).

Peer Connections Tutoring and Mentoring

Peer Mentors can assist you with many aspects of university life, including study skills, adjusting to life as a college student, getting connected on campus, and personal issues. For more information, visit the mentoring site. Peer Connections also offers workshops on a wide variety of topics including preparing for the Writing Skills Test (WST), improving your learning and memory, alleviating procrastination, surviving your first semester at SJSU, and other related topics. Visit the workshop section for this semester's schedule.

Biology Resources at SJSU's Library

You can find resources for searching journal databases, learn how to cite journal articles in papers, information about plagiarism, and other helpful information at the Biological Sciences Library Resources site. You can request journal articles that are not in the library by using InterLibrary LoanThe Biological Sciences librarian is available to answer any questions you may have about library resources.

Chicanx/Latinx Student Success

Underrepresented minority students, including Chicanx/Latinx students, have the highest attrition rates at SJSU with the greatest risk of dropping out. We strive to reverse this trend by creating a support network across campus for students with targeted and culturally specific programming and services. 

Generate First Generation Student Group

The goal of this student club is to build a community of support for first generation college students.

MOSAIC Cross Cultural Center

MOSAIC provides a safe and welcoming environment which honors and celebrates diversity. MOSAIC offer support and advocacy for historically under-represented groups, leadership opportunities, and intentional programming that focus on critical thought, social justice, and cultural empowerment for the SJSU community.

Accessible Education Center

The San Jose State University Accessible Education Center (AEC), formerly known as the Disability Resource Center (DRC) and located in ADM 110, is a comprehensive center providing both students and employees with accommodations and services. The Center works closely with faculty, staff, programs and departments to deliver services and promote access for students with disabilities in the classroom and throughout the campus.

Writing Center

The Writing Center located in CL Suite 126 offers a variety of resources to help students become better writers, from one-on-one tutoring sessions, to writing workshops. All of the services at the writing center are free for SJSU students.

Career Center

The Career Center in ADM 154 promotes the development of SJSU students as professionals by providing the tools to guide them in making career-planning decisions and marketing their skills to employers.

Counseling Services

The Counseling Services in ADM 201 provides counseling for individuals, couples and groups on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Counseling Services on campus cover a broad range of topics, including nutrition, sexual health, alcohol and drug abuse prevention.

Economic or Financial Assistance

If you're an SJSU student who is experiencing an unforeseen economic crisis, SJSU may be able to help identify and connect you to resources, including Emergency assistance (fire, flood, burglary, etc), Housing Assistance, Food Assistance, or Medical Assistance. Health Center

The Student Health Center provides medical care to students enrolled at SJSU. In addition to treating acute conditions, injuries, and illnesses, the Health Center provides a family planning program and maintains an in-house licensed pharmacy, a physical therapy department, a federally certified high complexity laboratory, and an x-ray department.
