The Writing Center employs a combination of professional staff and SJSU students to
provide writing services that may positively impact all Spartans.
Professional Staff
The team provides oversight for the Writing Center, including quality assurance, faculty
liaison, strategic improvement of writing services, and student employee training
and professional development.

Writing Tutors
Our tutors provide writing support through online and in-person appointments, course-embedded
support in select writing-intensive courses, and ongoing development of writing resources,
content, and materials. Tutors also collaborate with SJSU partners and student groups
to deliver outreach writing support.

Student Assistants
We employ student assistants to work the front desk and as Zoom moderators and perform
general office duties. In addition to these, our student coordinators undertake project-based
tasks, including social media and video production. We also employ student assistants
to represent us at events such as Frosh and Transfer orientations.
