Steps to Apply for Admission

PREPARE Your Application

1. START your CSU Apply application
2. COMPLETE PK-3 SMC survey
3. COMPLETE PK-3 Program Admission Requirements

SUBMIT your Application

1. UPLOAD the PK-3 program admission requirements to CSU Apply
2. SUBMIT CSU Apply application
3. PAY the CSU Apply Application Fee
4. SUBMIT official transcripts to SJSU, check GAPE for instructions.

 

SJSU Admission Process

Once your CSU Apply application is submitted, you will receive an SJSU ID and access to MySJSU within 7-10 days. You may log onto your account to check the status of your application. It may take several weeks to process as transcripts need to be received and verified by the SJSU Graduate Admissions & Program Evaluations (GAPE) unit. If your application status is incomplete, you may contact GAPE directly. 

Admission Interview

Once your application is complete, your status will show “Referred to Department” which means it has been forwarded to the program department for further action. You may then be scheduled for an admissions interview with the PK-3 Admissions Staff. 

Admission Status

After the interview, you should expect to receive communication from the Teacher Education Department regarding the status of your admission. If admitted, you will receive details about registration, course schedules, and other pertinent information. If you have questions about your application status, you may contact the Teacher Education Department.
