Jazz Orchestra
Directed by Dr. Aaron Lington, the San José State University Jazz Orchestra provides students with an opportunity to perform traditional and contemporary repertoire from an array of composers spanning over 50 years of Jazz history. Students are selected for this ensemble by audition only.
Music Majors concentrating in jazz must participate in Jazz Orchestra or Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble as a major ensemble.

Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble
Directed by Jeffrey Lewis, The Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble offers students an opportunity to learn and perform music from the Caribbean, Central and South America, and the African Diaspora under the direction of Professor Jeff Lewis. The Ensemble performs two full concerts per semester.
Music Majors concentrating in jazz must participate in either Jazz Orchestra or Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble as a major ensemble.

Jazz Combos
Under the direction of professors Jason Lewis and Jon Dryden, The Jazz Combos perform a wide variety of jazz repertoire with emphasis on improvisation in a small group format.
