Child and Adolescent Development

Dr. Maffini is an Associate Professor of Child and Adolescent Development and Director of HDCC. Dr. Maffini's research, clinical, and community-focused expertise are rooted in counseling psychology, emphasizing trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive approaches to healing, healthy development, health equity, and holistic well-being for children, youth, and families in local communities.

Leads day-to-day clinic happenings and events, supports staff and visiting SJSU affiliates with program implementation, facilitates faculty and community partnerships, strategizes and facilitates development, and leads Service Learning program.

Leads and oversees clinic marketing and communication initiatives, including newsletter, social media, website, and flyers; supports outreach events; and works with SJSU faculty to ensure wellness programming, services, and research projects are disseminated to the public.
