Department Job Openings

The Electrical Engineering Department needs the help of students for a number of different positions around campus.

 

Teaching Associate Position

Open Date

Oct 29, 2025 (The selection process will starts third week of June and continue until all positions are filled.)

Position Description

Under supervision from faculty, Teaching Associates serve as instructors of EE laboratory courses. Teaching Associates are fully responsible for providing lab instruction, making and administering lab assignments and examinations, tutoring students during the lab session, assessing student performance, holding office hours, and determining total lab scores/grades.

Qualifications

Must be an MSEE classified student.

Must have an SJSU Graduate GPA of 3.5 or better OR SJSU Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better.

Must be registered for at least one EE course or in the process of completing a graduate project/thesis.

Please note that students must have a social security card before starting work.

Instructional Student Assistant (ISA)

Position Description

Under direct supervision from faculty, Instructional Student Assistants perform grading or tutoring duties up to the assigned work hours per week.

Must have an SJSU Graduate GPA of 3.3 or better OR SJSU Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better.

Scholarships and Awards

The Electrical Engineering Department directly administers several Scholarship Programs.  Below are some scholarships available:

Broadcom Graduate Scholarships

A $5,000 scholarship for current Electrical Engineering graduate students are available.  To apply for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:


(1) A graduate electrical engineering student who completed at least 9 graduate units (but not more than 24 units) at SJSU.

(2) Overall SJSU GPA of 3.5 or above.

Clifford Smith Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships

Four (4) Clifford Smith Endowed Scholarships with the amount of $2,500 each are available for current full-time Electrical Engineering students.  To apply for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

(1) Full-time EE student (enroll 12 or more units per semester for undergraduate and 9 or more units for graduate students)

(2) Undergraduate students at junior or senior level who will graduate at the end of Spring 2024 or later.  Or graduate students who completed at least 9 units but not more than 24 units of the MSEE program

(3) A minimum SJSU cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above for undergraduate students, Or 3.5 or above for graduate students
