Development of the Data Science for All Seminar Series is funded under NSF grant #1829622 with the goal of encouraging students from all backgrounds to explore the possibilities of data science and Big Data early in their academic careers and hopefully pique their interest in the topic through low-risk extra-curricular seminars.

 Picture for Harlan Findley - Google

Harlan Findley

Director of Consulting
Google’s Real Estate & Services organization

Harlan Findley is Director of Consulting for Google’s Real Estate & Services organization. Harlan also teaches courses on Fiber Optics, Wireless and ML/Automation in Google's Engineering for Non-Engineers curriculum, as well as periodically lecturing at San Jose State, UC Santa Cruz and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

In his 25 years in the technology industry, Harlan has held leadership roles in Consulting, Operations and Finance.  Prior to Google, Harlan served as Director of Product Management for telecom equipment company Neophotonics.  He was also Director of Operations, managing factories, contract manufacturers and supply chains on three continents.  Previous roles include running operations for solar cell manufacturer UltraDots, consulting for Arthur Andersen and teaching high school.

Harlan received an MBA and several rugby injuries from Stanford, and a BS from Cal Poly SLO. He lives in San Jose, CA with his wife Jane, their two children, and two ill-behaved dogs.

Ms. Capolupo is responsible for providing management for the Junos Architecture Board and the Juniper Distinguished Engineering (DE) community. This includes managing the Juniper DE Council - responsible for approving DE promotions and new hires, as well as the annual DE Summit. Previously in this team, she was responsible  for project managing several DEs working on major OS library re-architecture. Prior to her work in the CTO office, she was Sr. Director of Junos Governance, responsible for policy, process, criteria and schedule for all Junos OS software releases.

Prior to Juniper Networks, in her more than 11 years with Cisco Systems, she was Sr. Engineering Manager for the IOS Packet Engineering Group, responsible for large-scale corporate level software infrastructure planning and implementation. In addition, previous roles included remotely managing the Edge Services software team in Bangalore India, the collective hardware and software engineering teams for the leading Broadband Aggregation platform, and the IOS Source Code team, responsible for all major source code integration.

Prior to her employment with Cisco Systems, Ms. Capolupo spent over seven years at various positions at Novell, Inc.

Ms. Capolupo has served as a lead judge for the International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition since 1995, after participating as a graduate student for San Jose State University, and has made a number of industry panel presentations including sessions for Women in Technology International (WITI), Women in International Trade (WIT), Women Unlimited, and the Project Management Institute of Silicon Valley.

Ms. Capolupo received her Master of Business Administration from San Jose State University and her Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude,  from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she was a member of the Alpha Lambda  Delta National Honor Society and the Men’s Varsity Crew.

Ron Sha has over 20 years of broad technology and business experience working as VP/CIO in various in high technology companies and startups in software, manufacturing, healthcare and entertainment industry.

Mr. Sha is in a consulting role as CTO for Lucas Museum (http://lucasmuseum.org) where Mr. Sha is responsible for technology strategy, architecture, design and implementation of all the technologies related activities which includes computing, big data and networking infrastructure for the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art scheduled to be opened in 2021.

Mr. Sha is President of CIO Scholarship Fund, one of the goals is to help under privileged students succeed in studying technology in college. In the past 10 years, the foundation has donated over $1M+ to local colleges and helped over 500 students. Mr. Sha helped Ohlone Community College in establishing its Information Technology programs and curriculums, and in July 2019, US National Security Agency (NSA) designated Ohlone College as the only Northern California community college as NSA National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education.

Mr. Sha holds multiple U.S. patents, received his M.S. degree in engineering management from the Santa Clara University, and a B.S. degree in Computer Science from San Jose State University.

Judah Phillips is an award-winning entrepreneur, management consultant, and business author. He founded the data science consultancy SmartCurrent and co-founded the automated machine learning (automl) SaaS-vendor Squark. A Harvard Innovation Lab VIP, Judah has written three books on analytics, data science, and data strategy.  An adjunct professor at Boston University and a lecturer at Babson College, he is also a founding member of the University of Massachusetts Advisory Council for the Humanities and Fine Arts.
