STEM Student Success Initiative funded by $2.5 million NSF Grant

Summer pre-college S-STEM program was a success and included an exciting field trip to Quantum AI company, Rigetti! Led by Professors Jorjeta Jetcheva, and Professor Carlos Rojas from the Computer Engineering department, Yolanda Wiggins from Social Sciences, Bill Andreopoulos from Computer Science, and Brianne Gutmann from Physics Education, the program is funded by a $2.5 Million NSF grant focused on supporting the attraction, retention, and graduation of academically talented, undergraduates who are Pell Grant recipents, majoring in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering and Computer Science at San José State.

Master's students win Best Paper Award at IEEE CAI 2025!

Master's students Anoushka Gade (pictured) and Hardi Trivedi, along with faculty advisor Professor Jorjeta Jetcheva, won the Best Paper Award at the 2025 IEEE Conference on Artificial Intelligence in the Business Intelligence vertical for the paper “It’s About Time: Incorporating Temporality in Retrieval-Augmented Language Models”.

Noam Smilovich has been honored with the San José State University outstanding thesis award for the 2024–2025 academic year! Noam’s thesis, “Data-Driven Control of Acoustic Waves Using Movable and Flexible Scatterers,” was selected from submissions across all academic colleges at SJSU.

Prof. Mahima Suresh wins Quantum Faculty Fellow Award!

Associate Professor Mahima Suresh has won the 2025 Quantum Faculty Fellow Award from the College of Engineering!
This project will develop new and improved instructional techniques and materials for undergraduate and graduate education. It will enhance the use of technology in instruction, create laboratory instructional resources, and include efforts to assess and improve instructional quality.
