Need a laptop? The Academic Technology Equipment Loaning offers matriculated students an opportunity to borrow a PC or Apple laptops and a variety of audio/visual equipment.
GPU Machines
The Applied Data Science department has 22 Dell Alienware Aurora R15 Desktops with AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4090 with 24 GB GDDR6X, 128GB memory and 12 Dell Alienware Area-51 desktop with Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5090 with 32GB GDDR6X. This GPU is 3x faster than the Colab tier GPU T4. GPU machines can be reserved by contacting the Department of Applied Data Science at ms-applied-data-intelligence@sjsu.edu.
Minimum Computer Configuration for MSADI Curriculum
Due to the unique nature of the MSADI curriculum, each student should be able to access a laptop computer with the minimum configuration of
- CPU: Core i7 (preferred) or Core i5
- RAM: 16G Bytes
- Storage: SSD 256G Bytes (highly recommended)
- Screen size: 15” or above
This computer will enable you to download the necessary environments, tools, applications and course materials to engage in classroom exercises, in-class quizzes, midterm and final exams, as well as class and master projects.
