Bio

Sina Aboutorabi is a multidisciplinary engineer and an experienced lecturer in electrical and astronautical engineering, specializing in the interdisciplinary areas of communications, astronautics, electronics, and space systems. With a strong foundation in electrical engineering and a focus on complex communications systems and spacecraft systems, he brings extensive expertise in the design and analysis of state-of-the-art systems for satellite, deep space, and spacecraft communications.

Sina Aboutorabi is the Vice Chair of the AIAA San Francisco Section. He is a senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the American Astronautical Society (AAS). He is currently an aspiring astronaut. Aboutorabi is the last doctoral student of Professor Solomon W. Golomb. The late Dr. Golomb was a world-renowned mathematician and electrical engineer recognized for his pioneering contributions to communications, coding theory, and shift register sequences, which have had a profound impact on modern digital communications and space communications.

Aboutorabi's research interests lie at the intersection of electrical and astronautical engineering with a focus on advanced space communications systems and communications signal design. Areas of expertise include deep space communications coding, digital communications with space applications, communication theory, spacecraft communications systems, quantum communication, and mobile communications. His research aims to develop innovative solutions to enhance communications reliability and efficiency for deep space, planetary, and interplanetary missions.
