The Center for Comparative Philosophy at San Jose State University is the first organized research center specifically for comparative philosophy (as a general way of doing philosophy through cross-tradition engagement in philosophy) in the USA. Its philosophy faculty represent a wide variety of (culture-associated or style/orientation-associated) philosophical traditions and have remarkable research agendas and publication records. A peer-reviewed, open-access international journal Comparative Philosophy, edited by its International Editorial Board, is co-published by the Center & the University Library at SJSU (via bepress, USA) and the International Society for Comparative Philosophy toward Word Philosophy (CPWP). Faculty and students of comparative philosophy at SJSU enjoy a rich network of ideological, cultural and international resources in the dynamic California Bay Area.
