Communicative Disorders and Sciences Department

At San José State University’s Lurie College of Education, the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences (CDS) offers students a rigorous academic and clinical experience that prepares them for rewarding careers serving individuals with communication disorders and their families. Our program emphasizes culturally responsive teaching and hands-on clinical training, equipping students to translate research and evidence-based practices into real-world impact. Through this journey, students build the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation needed to make a meaningful difference in the diverse communities we serve.
